One of the greatest compliments we get when patients come to TMB:

There’s no doubt we all tend to play a certain role in our family/friend circle. We see this a lot in our patients:
“But my friends know I'm the person that will always drink with them, so if I don't, they'll think something is up", or 
“But my family knows me as the lighthearted one so if I share that I’m feeling down lately, I’ll upset them” 

Sound familiar? 

We tend to define ourselves as we see others seeing us. And it's something we tend to do on repeat because we don't want to "let anyone down", be a bother, and just want to feel like we fit in. 

If you are stressed trying to be someone you’re not ➡️ (ie the super-mom who’s killing her job while making homemade food from scratch while homeschooling, well dressed/put together and making time for self care let alone your husband?)

People are treating you/expecting things of you because it's how it has always been. At some point, in order to change it, you’ve got to break the patterns, communicate your needs and teach them how to see you in a new light! (And if that’s sweats and screens for the kids and take out, then that’s what it is!).

What a bumpy ride this year has been to say the le What a bumpy ride this year has been to say the least! 🎢 (Is that understatement of the year?) but these humans (my dream team 😍🤩), and YOU, our TMB community (virtual and local), have made it all worth it. Seriously. In the moments when I thought I couldn’t keep it together anymore 🤯, you all gave me purpose and reminded me through your grace and gratitude who I’m showing up FOR which helped me (and I know my team feels the same) continue to show up.

As we all blindly step into 2021 like 🙈😬 I encourage us all to take a moment to reflect on this year and know exactly, stepping into 2021 (no matter what it holds), what is one thing you want to let go of (leave in 2020) and one thing you want to add more of in 2021.
Could be a feeling, a habit, a person, a job, a geographic location, a relationship, anything!
